RECREATIONAL LEVEL
Ballistic United fields an outstanding Recreational Level program. Ballistic recreational teams are composed of players, who wish to play at a purely recreational level. Recreational teams play intra-Club except for the U16 and U19 teams who play within the Al Cafodio District III House playing league. For U10 to U14 age groups the Recreational Level teams are grouped into divisions based on area of school attendance, prior year’s rating and years of soccer experience. There are no tryouts for Recreational Level teams. Coaches are parent volunteers. The coaches, players and their parents are dedicated to the development of good soccer technique and tactics, good sportsmanship, work, meeting new people and expanding their soccer experience.
Season
For U5 through U19 teams, training starts in August. During the school year training sessions are usually held 1-2 days per week. League play starts in September with one game per week - usually Saturdays - through late November. There are a small number of tournaments for U12 and U14 teams in September and October, though most Recreational Level teams do not participate. There is a District III Crossroads Tournament for the leading team in the U10, U12 and U14 age groups from each District III club during November or December. The playing season ends with the Tide Cup tournament, which starts in November and extends to December for the U12 and U14 age groups.
For U16 through U19 teams, training starts in August. During the school year training sessions are usually held 1-2 days per week. District III “House League” fall season starts in September with one to two games per week through late October. There are a small number of tournaments for U16 and U19 Recreational teams in September and October. The playing season ends with the Tide Cup tournament, in March.
Coaching and Training
Recreational coaches are recruited and selected by the Ballistic Age Group Coordinators from parent volunteers. Volunteering to coach offers a rewarding opportunity to work with children and build their individual and team playing skills. Ballistic provides training for Recreational coaches. Additional training is available through CYSA coaching courses and expenses for attending these courses is reimbursed by BUSC if the coach stays with the team for the season. The BUSC Club Training Program provides training for Recreational teams. Details are available at the annual Coaches Meeting held in July prior to the start of the Recreational training season in August.
Most games are played on Saturday. Schedules are issued to all coaches in July. Coaches determine the days and number days that his/her team has practices. Ballistic United suggests that the U5/6 teams train one day per week and each session should not be longer than one hour.
