For the second straight year several Ballistic “Bulldogs” players will spend a week at FC Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy training at futsal. In addition to learning from the world’s top coaches, Calvin, Henry, Evan, Trenton and Luke will tour Guadi’s Sagrada Familia basilica and other cultural sights. BUSC Director of Futsal, Rob Bell, will coach Team USA’s 03/04 team against FC Barcelona and other top local teams. Good luck boys and coach!

U9 Futsal

We went undefeated. Scoring the most goal in the league. We were unstoppable scoring 101 goals as a team, but what impressed me the most was we only received 18 goal. To be honest my focus was to work on the defensive side. Teaching the boys how to defend in our new 3-1 defensive shape.

These boys naturally are attacking minded players so we did well on we. I was really happy to see how these little ones learned our new diamond formation.

U10 BUFC Won the 2016 USFF Northwest Regional Championship

Congrats to our u10 BUFC team that won the 2016 USFF Northwest Regional Championship. This is the team’s third major championship within the last 12 months. The core of this team has trained perhaps more than any other group in the U.S. over the past four years. Year around training and a cohesive system of play have led to some very attractive futsal. The group will now try its luck at USA Futsal’s Boys World Championships in Orlando this August.

U8 & U9 Host Silverware…

U8 Black & U9 – National Champions

The u8 Black team showed tremendous grit in the semi-finals, coming back from 2-5 halftime deficit against Legends of San Jose to tie the game 6-6 in the last minute. After 10 minutes of overtime, the teams went to PKs. Every year the tournament provides a game of such intensity and passion that nerves fray. This was the case as over 200 fans surrounded the court in anticipation. Parents and players chanted in unison. It almost seems unfair for kids to be put under this pressure, but our boys stepped up and took care of business while keeper Landon Kenney provided three vital stops. And the finals? Another heart stopper … a 6-5 win over the Gilroy Eagles with the winning goal scored with just a couple minutes remaining.
The u9s continue their run of high level play. Since December the team is 41-1 in all friendlies, league games, jamborees, and tournaments. More importantly, the group continues to evolve technically and tactically. The finals were a wonderful display of teamwork in a 6-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes Academy.
Our u14 Academy team played in a final as well. Relatively new to tournament futsal, this group impressed with their quick adoption of our basic strategies. The finals were a tightly contested 5-3 loss to the LA Galaxy Academy.
A special shout-out to our u8 Gold, u11, and u13 teams. All had special moments and represented our club well.

U.S. Futsal National Championship

A bit of BUSC history was made the weekend of July 17-19 at the U.S. Futsal National Championship held in the Anaheim Convention Center. Teams from as far away as Australia, Hawaii, and Long Island all vied for top honors. Three of our six entries played in finals. Our u8 and u9 BUFC teams were crowned national champions by beating the Gilroy Eagles and the San Jose Earthquakes Academy respectively, while our u14 Academy team lost to the LA Galaxy Academy 5-3 in a taut, fiercely contested game. Congrats to each our teams for representing our club with class and sportsmanship.

This past weekend BUFC entered four teams in the Northwest Futsal Championship in San Jose. This event is considered the most challenging of all the Regional tournaments held in the United States. Clubs from Mexico to Oregon attended, and the level of play proved quite high.

All our teams played attractive, attacking futsal that led to numerous opportunities on goal. Two of our teams were crowned champions at the u8 & u9 age groups. Our teams received much praise from the coaches and directors of other established futsal clubs. Thanks to our wonderful players, families, and coaches, BUFC is off to a great start.

The soccer season is right around the corner, so we wish all our boys the best and hope futsal has served them well.
