Ballistic United Soccer Club’s 2006 Select Gold Team defeated the Prospector Soccer Club Tsunami in penalty kicks to secure the State Cup for the Bronze Division. Aarnav Kannu saved 2 shots in the shoot out and then turned around and scored the game winning penalty kick.
The Tsunami had beaten BUSC 6-0 in a qualifying game just 3 weeks earlier.
This year’s team, coached by Bret Gervasoni, lost 3 players to full-time competitive teams and expanded from 9v9 and a roster of 13 players to 11v11 with a roster of 15 players. “It was a tumultuous season,” observed Coach Gervasoni, “but in the end the players developed well and worked as a team to secure the victory.” The team ended the season with a 17-7-1 record.
