We wanted to personally reach out to the BUSC community and provide an update on where BUSC board stands during these turbulent times.
During our last meeting less than three weeks ago, the board discussed the possibility of cancelling our BUSC Abroad trip to the UK scheduled for Spring Break, as well as trips to Seattle, Portland and Las Vegas several of our teams had planned.
We were taking a “wait and see” approach and sure enough, all events were cancelled. The board’s biggest concern now is the health and safety of our staff, coaches and members.
We trust that you are all sheltering in place and doing our best with social distancing. We truly believe that adherence to these actions will be paramount in addressing this COVID-19 pandemic and flattening the curve.
We hope you have seen that we are aligning with US Soccer and NorCal Premier to suspend all soccer activities through April 12. We do expect that this will be moved back even further as PUSD just announced they are suspending physical school and will be continuing with remote learning through May 1.
We are monitoring the situation closely and will continue to provide updates as we gain more information. The Executive Committee is working diligently together and soliciting feedback from other soccer clubs and organizations across the nation.
Clubs are focused on keeping players engaged, how do they make up for the Spring season, and how will they manage placements if the current situation continues to extend, among many other topics.
The challenges BUSC is faced with are no different and the economic impact of these potential outcomes weighs heavily as well.
We will be working through these details over the coming weeks and as decisions are made and agreed to by the board, we will communicate with our membership immediately.
The Board is continuing to meet on a regular basis and our Technical Director, Kevin Crow, is working closely with the coaching staff helping roll out practice at home exercises for the kids still in session.
It may not feel like it, but the hive is busy behind the scenes!
The Board has created a form where members can ask questions relevant to this difficult time. We will answer questions once a week in a Club-wide communication. If you have a question, it can be submitted here:https://forms.gle/tzCLmVaTJVCywzjy7
Please know that we are doing our best to ensure continuity when the shelter in place is lifted and we will keep you informed as more clarity comes to light. Please do your part and be responsible so that we can return to the pitch as soon as possible and establish some semblance of normalcy.
