Ballistic United Soccer Club Announces Launch of Semi-Professional Team in UPSL
Pleasanton, CA, July 22, 2025: Ballistic United Soccer Club (BUSC), one of Northern California’s most respected and long-standing youth soccer organizations, is proud to announce the launch of a new semi-professional men’s team that will compete in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) beginning this fall.
This marks an exciting new chapter in BUSC’s storied history and reinforces its commitment to providing a complete developmental pathway, from grassroots to the professional ranks, for aspiring players in the Tri-Valley and beyond.
“Adding a UPSL team aligns perfectly with our mission to develop players at every stage of the game,” said Brady Taylor, Technical Director at BUSC. “This new program, spearheaded by Director Mumbi, bridges the gap between youth and professional soccer, giving our players a real opportunity to stay local, stay connected, and continue competing at a high level.”
The new UPSL team will serve as a platform for elite BUSC alumni, collegiate standouts, and top BUSC talent to continue their development in a competitive, nationally recognized league. It will also serve as a proving ground for players seeking to take the next step into collegiate and professional soccer, while offering BUSC’s younger players a visible, local model for what’s possible in their soccer journey.
The team will play home matches in Pleasanton, led by Ballistic Director Mimbi Kwesele, who will be the Head Coach.
“Ballistic has long delivered quality opportunities at the youth level, and joining the UPSL is a natural next step. This team completes our player pathway, offering our U16-U19 players and returning college athletes a competitive, local platform to prepare for the next level.” – Mumbi Kwesele
Founded in 1968, Ballistic United has long been a leader in player development, with alumni competing in MLS, USL, college programs across the country, and youth national teams. The addition of the UPSL team further solidifies BUSC as a top-tier destination for long-term player development.
“This is more than just a team, it’s a vision for the future, for the community and club,” Taylor added. “We’re excited to bring the community together around something new and inspiring, and to showcase the level of talent and ambition that exists right here in our club.”
