Daniel Montes to take over as BUSC President!

As Ballistic United president Scott McMillin steps away after seven amazing years of running the BUSC Board of Directors, Daniel Montes is ready to step in and hit the ground running for the elite youth soccer club.

I recently had a chance to have a question-and-answer session with Montes.

Question: How do you view your commitment?

Montes: I view my role as providing steady leadership and direction. I am not stepping in to take on every task, but to support the people who do the work every day. My commitment is to help create a clear vision, remove roadblocks, and build a structure that helps the club thrive. I want to be present, thoughtful, and help the board and staff succeed in their roles. My goal is to help the club grow in a sustainable way and ensure every player, family, and partner feels the value of being part of BUSC.

Question: What are you most excited about taking the job?

Montes: I am excited to support the launch of our new futsal facility and build programs that engage every level of our club, from recreational and competitive players to adult leagues and community groups. There is so much potential to serve the full spectrum of our players and families while deepening our ties with local partners and organizations.

Question: Anything you are not excited about?

Montes: Like any volunteer-led organization, there are always challenges around time and resources. It is not always easy to ask people to give more of themselves when everyone is busy, but I believe when there is a clear purpose and vision, people will step up.

Question: Do you have a vision for the club?

Montes: My vision is to keep the club moving forward while honoring what has made BUSC special for over 50 years. I want to strengthen the experience for all of our players; helping develop not just better soccer players, but better teammates and young people. Internally, I want to bring in new board members and create more structure to help with leadership continuity in the years ahead.

Question: Talk about the job Scott did.

Montes: Scott has been a consistent and thoughtful leader. He stayed focused on what was best for the club and helped create an environment where people could do their jobs well. I appreciate the time and energy he puts in and the foundation he is leaving behind. On a personal level, I am grateful for the guidance he has given me as I prepare to take on this role.
