It was back in 2006-2007 season when Kenneth Boardman first in contact with Ballistic United when he was brought aboard as a coach.
He certainly enjoyed his time but following his initial contract with Ballistic, he was forced to step away from the club for family reasons.
During his time away, he coached various other clubs, soaking in everything he could learn.
“I had the opportunity to coach with several other clubs, gaining valuable experience and learning different coaching,” said Boardman.
But there was just something about Ballistic.
“My time at Ballistic United always stood out,” said Boardman, with a sense of passion in the statement. “The professionalism, the passion, and the culture of excellence left a last impression on me. That’s when the opportunity arose to return, I didn’t hesitate. I reached out to executive director Kevin Crow, who connected me with Brady Taylor.”
And it didn’t take long from there.
“He is a phenomenal addition to already sensational staff,” said Taylor, the BUSC Technical Director said of Boardman. “His dedication to the kids is wonderful and inspiring to watch. He makes us a better club and is a great example of the BUSC way.”
Born in Nigeria, Boardman started playing soccer when he was four and by the time he was six he was exceling. He played for the Nigerian National Youth team as the youngest player on the team. He was invited to the main team, also at a very young age.
After just a few seasons he received a full scholarship to study and play soccer at the Universite of San Francisco. He was a team captain in 1986 and ended up being All American that year as well as being the USF MVP and the West Coast Conference MVP.
After graduation from USF Boardman played professional soccer in Europe and the United States. In 1996, he was selected and offered a contract during the 1996 MLS startup.
Boardman earned an MBA from Golden Gate University in 1991 and an MS also from Golden Gate University 2001. Boardman has worked for Kaiser, Stanford University and World Poverty Alleviation as Director of Finance and Administration.
He started many businesses such as KnowledgeBoots.com and WorldClassCreation.com and coached youth soccer for many years.
Boardman is the author of two books – The Millionaire In You and How To Become The Best In Everything You Do.
He played professionally in Belgium before returning to the United States, he pursued his MBA at Golden Gate University.
He continued to play professionally for team including the San Diego Nomads, Chico Rooks, and North Bay Breakers in the American Professional Soccer League (APSL) and the USISL.
Boardman is married and a father of three with a daughter at UC Berkeley, a son at San Francisco State, and his oldest completing his master’s degree.
His local coaching stops have taken him to SKB Soccer Entertainment Academy, the Walnut Creek Soccer Club, Diablo Valley Soccer Club, and was a coach at USF’s summer camps.
His coaching philosophy is: “It centers on developing the whole player technically, physically, and mentally. I focus on identifying each player’s strengths and areas for growth, then designing positive, engaging training that builds positive character, confidence, consistency, and self-belief. My goal is to motivate young players to reach their full potential while fostering teamwork, determination, discipline, and a lifelong passion for soccer, both on and off the field.”
And now Ballistic is the benefactor of Boardman’s talents.
“I’m proud to be part of this incredible club again,” said Boardman. “I highly encourage other families to join Ballistic United. It’s more than just soccer – it’s a community that helps players grow, develop, and reach their potential in an environment full of passion, care, and excellence.”
