From the San Jose Earthquakes
San Jose Earthquakes forward and former Ballistic United DA player Cade Cowell is among 28 players selected to the 2021 Major League Soccer All-Star Team. Cowell, 17, is the youngest player named an All-Star and is one of two players chosen directly by MLS Commissioner Don Garber, along with the New England Revolution’s Tajon Buchanan.
Cowell was the first player in MLS to tally four goals and four assists this season, earning two Team of the Week selections and one Player of the Week honor in the process. His Player of the Week selection in Week 3 saw him become the third youngest player to ever win the award in MLS history. Among all American-born players in MLS, Cowell ranks tied for second in assists (4) and goals plus assists (8), and tied for fifth in goals scored (4).
The MLS All-Star Team will be facing the best of Mexico’s LIGA MX for the first time ever on August 25 at 6 p.m. PT at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles. The historic match will be broadcast live on FS1, Univision, TSN and TVA Sports. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster or by visiting LAFC.com.
The roster was determined through a combination of fan, player and media voting (13 players), designations by All-Star Head Coach Bob Bradley (13 players) and a pair of selections by MLS Commissioner Don Garber.
