Lemoine Awards

Coleson Franklin

The following is a statement from Coleson about his selection.

“I’m thankful to be named one of the winners. Before applying for this scholarship, I knew who Erik Lemoine was and how much of an impact he had on the people around him.

“My mom went to high school with him and was friends with the Lemoine family, so she was excited when she found out I was applying for this scholarship and told me about his life, how he was a great soccer player, and how he passed away from metastatic melanoma.

“I plan on going to Colorado School of Mines with a major in computer science and an emphasis on cybersecurity.

“I’ve played with BUSC all my life and have enjoyed my time at the club. One of my fondest memories was winning State Cup in pens with my select team around middle school. Overall, I’m thankful for my time at BUSC and being chosen as one of the winners.”

Henry Beatty

The following is a statement from Henry about receiving the award.

“Thank you, I really appreciate it. I feel honored to be chosen to continue Erik’s legacy, both on and off the field. I know that Erik was a great player who played for USF, which is in the WCC – the same conference I will be playing in for St. Mary’s.

“I also know he did a lot with special education which is meaningful to me because my mom is a special education teacher, and it is something I’m passionate about. Next year I’m going to be playing at Saint Mary’s and majoring in history with the intention of going to grad school. “
