Become a Referee

Soccer Referees Needed!

Interested in becoming a new referee, looking for continued referee education, mentoring, or need to renew your referee licensing?  We are a proud member of the East Bay Referee Association (EBRA), which provides courses and excellent resources for their pool of referees which we hire from.  Our referees must be assigned by the East Bay Referee Association (EBRA) via Game Officials.  If you are a new referee, please visit the EBRA website at https://eastbayrefs.org/and/or contact EBRA General Manager, Moe Shafai at moeshafai@eastbayrefs.org to be added to the EBRA system.

The benefits of becoming a referee are vast for adults and youth alike.  Especially for youth players (eligible at 13 years+), benefits include an opportunity to earn money, grow your knowledge of the game, learn responsibility in the workplace, grow your time management skills, and much more.

We are invested in the growth of our referee pool and are providing the following financial incentives for new referees.  BUSC will reimburse NEW referees after working 5 BUSC home league games during the Fall season upon completing these games.  Please submit a report from Game Officials documenting the games worked and email Kevin Crow at kevincrow@busc.org for reimbursement once you have completed these 5 BUSC home games.

Additionally, any referee, RETURNING or NEW, will also qualify for the following bonus structure for the balance of the Fall league games and the following Spring league games:

  • 10 games = $25
  • 20 games = $25 ($50 total)
  • 30 games = $25 ($75 total)
  • 40 games = $25 ($100 total)
  • $25 bonus new referee for their first center
  • $25 bonus for new referee who does 5 centers
