As Ballistic United forges into the MLS Next inaugural season as a Founding Member, the club continues to build its network of coaches, providing its players with all the tools necessary to reach their full potential.
The latest example is the hiring of Carlos Schulze as the club Goalkeeper Coach. In also keeping with the tradition that the club takes care of all levels of play, Schulze will oversee all the goalies in the club, not just the MLS Next players.
“Ballistic is excited to announce the addition of renowned goalkeeper coach Carlos Schulze to our technical staff,” said Ballistic Technical Director Kevin Crow. “With over 30-years’ experience Carlos’s resume speaks for itself. “
Schulze, who has spent time working with the Chilean National team program, as well as the United States youth national team program, will bring a straight-forward approach to Ballistic.
“Initially I will watch and observe,” said Schulze. “This will allow me to see what is needed, the direction we need to go, then eventually make some changes.”
Given Schulze’s extensive resume of coaching at all levels, count on the Ballistic goalie pool to receive superior technical advice and practice skills.
Here are some of Schulze’s credentials:
*USSF Youth and A licenses
*Barcelona Youth Academy Coach license (in progress)
*USSF Grassroots Instructor
*NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma
*NSCAA Advanced National and Goalkeeping licenses
*American Fitness Association CPT
The difference with what Schulze brings to the table is his recognition that being a successful goalie is not just technical excellence, but also physical superiority.
“My trainings are different than what kids are used to,” said Schulze said. “My approach has always been keeper specific conditioning. My workouts are high-paced, high intensity. A goalie has to be explosive and quick.”
A certified personal trainer as well, Schulze will bring a new, fresh approach to the conditioning of the Ballistic keepers.
“Carlos is passionate about developing your talent the right way,” added Crow. “With a great emphasis not just on the technical side, but the physical aspect of the game as well. We are very fortunate to be able to bring someone of Carlos’ stature to Ballistic!”
